Clinical Faculty in Counselor Education - Capital University

    The School of Education Counselor Education program at Capital University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Counselor Education term position at the rank of clinical professor with a start date of Fall 2023. Specifically, the program is seeking an applicant with Professional School Counseling experience professionally and/or academically and the ability to teach general coursework across both school and clinical mental health tracks. (Qualified applicants without Professional School Counseling will be considered.)

    Required Qualifications:

    • An earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP- accredited program OR an earned doctorate in a CORE-accredited doctoral program with employment as a full-time faculty member in a counselor preparation program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 2013.
    • Experience as a Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Professional School Counselor.
    • Evidence of successful college teaching experience.
    • Professional identity with the counseling profession through membership in professional organizations pertinent to counseling (e.g., ACA, ASCA, NCRE, and/or divisions and/or state equivalents).
    • Licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or a Professional School Counselor in Ohio; must obtain within one year.
    • Evidence of ability to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Candidates who hold a Professional School Counselor identity.
    • Evidence of successful college teaching experience at the graduate level.
    • Evidence of experience with electronic distance education/online teaching.
    • Evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., published articles, book chapters, books, and/or professional conference presentations).
    • Evidence of leading students to complete Capital University Counselor Education Program Goals.

    Application Process: Interested candidates should submit 1) a current CV including list of references, 2) official copies of all academic transcripts, 3) evidence of teaching effectiveness (such as student evaluations and/or a supervisor evaluations), 4) three letters of recommendation, and 5) a letter of interest outlining the applicant's education/teaching philosophy and commitment to diversity.
