SAIGE of Ohio is pleased to present a virtual professional development event focused on LGBTGEQIAP+ issues, emphasizing community building and advocacy. Our webinar will begin with a brief Welcome & Introduction to SAIGE of Ohio.

Following this, we will present “Spaces that Fit,” a session designed to equip counselors with the knowledge needed to advocate for and support individuals who are both queer and autistic, whether colleagues or clients. Participants will learn about the rationale for, and implementation of, strategies to accommodate the unique needs and preferences of this underserved population.

Next, “Queering Supervision” will address creating inclusive, affirming supervisory environments for queer and transgender supervisees. Attendees will gain practical strategies to challenge bias, navigate power dynamics, and support diverse identities.

Following this, NASW Ohio will conduct a concise presentation of their “Navigate New Laws” training. This session will explore how behavioral health providers can adapt their practices in response to HB 68 to deliver high-quality care to transgender and gender-diverse youth, while safeguarding against liability risks and disciplinary actions. Thanks to NASW Ohio’s generosity, this training will be offered at no cost.

Finally, we will conclude with “Our Voices Matter,” where participants will learn about the American Counseling Association (ACA) standards for legislative advocacy, professional guidance on monitoring legislation, and strategies for engaging with local lawmakers. Participants will develop an understanding of professional advocacy competencies within counseling and explore strategies for engaging in legislative advocacy at the state level.
