Youngstown State celebrates 50 years educating counselors

Youngstown State University (YSU) is pleased to announce the 50th anniversary of our Counseling Program which will be celebrated at a banquet on Thursday, April 4th at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased through www.ysu.edu/alumni/counseling

YSU President Jim Tressel will provide remarks and our Counseling faculty will honor the approximately 2000 counseling alumni since program inception in 1968.  We will have a wine/beer social, live music, presentation of awards, and opportunities to catch up with faculty, students, alumni, and special guests.

We are very proud to recognize the following 10 Distinguished YSU Alumni from our 50 year history at the banquet: Dr. Elliot Ingersoll (Chair & Professor in Dept. of Counseling at Cleveland State University), Dr. David Helsel (retired counselor educator from John Carroll & University of Akron); the Mayor of Youngstown, Jamael Tito Brown; Past-OCA President / Dir. of Clinical Treatment at New Day, Meghan Fawcett; long-time Ohio Clinical Counselors & Administrators, Larry Lapidus (Preferred Care Counseling) & Jerry Semivan (Columbiana Counseling Center); Student Affairs Professionals, Tysa Egleton (Dir. of Penguin Service Center at YSU) & Gary DiLisio (Principle Academic Advisor at Carnegie Mellon University); Vice President of Research, Advocacy, & Outreach at CACREP, Dr. Tyler Kimbel; and the FIRST graduate from YSU Counseling Program and long-time Ohio School Counselor, Ms. Peggy Kinnick.
