Reducing Opioid Dependence

Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation, Mercy Health, and Mahoning County Juvenile Court are pleased to announce that Reducing Opioid Dependence will take place June 28, 2018 at The Holiday Inn in Boardman, Ohio.  

The opioid epidemic has engulfed the nation and affects all sectors of society.  This training will provide education on addiction and its impact. Information related to best practices and evidence-based programing for the treatment of opioid addiction will also be discussed. 

Sam Quinones, author of Dreamland, The True Tale of America’s Opioid Epidemic, will present his revelatory account of the corrosive threat facing America and its heartland with a Q&A and book signing session. Registered attendees will receive a copy of Dreamland, the cost of which is included in the seminar registration fee.  

Additional expert speakers include Dr. Brad Lander, Clinical Director of Addiction Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Larry Graham, President, Mercy Health Behavioral Institute, Tracy Plouck, Executive Director of Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Carolyn Givens, Executive Director of Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, M. Frank Beck, D.D.S., FAAHD, MAGD, FICOI, DSCDA, Angela DeVito, MSOL, OCPS-II, Susan D. Laird, LPCC-S, CDCA, Medford Mashburn, M.D., HMDC, Judge Theresa Dellick and Randall Muth Esq.  with break-out session topics covering Human Trafficking, Role of Recovery Coaches, New Marijuana Laws, Impact of Ohio Prescribing Laws, and Impact of the Drug Epidemic on Families and Children - What Can Be Done.   

Continuing education credits will be offered. CPEs for social workers and counselors, CLEs for attorneys, and CMEs for doctors are approved. We are awaiting approval for nurses and chemical dependency professionals.
