Nonsuicidal self-injury: Ethics and legal considerations for clinical supervisors Friday, Nov. 12th from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Zoom Presenter: Dr. Victoria Kress, LPCC-S Distinguished Professor / Addiction & Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Coordinator, Department of Psychological Sciences & Counseling, Youngstown State University Program Description: Research suggests that client/student nonsuicidal self-injurious behavior is an issue that many supervisors are uncomfortable managing. Supervisors need to feel comfortable with managing self-injury as it presents with some frequency, and it involves many risk-related issues. This presentation will focus on important information that supervisors need to know when working with a supervisee whose client/student self-injures. The presentation will focus on self-injury in clients/students in both a school and mental health settings. An emphasis will be placed on risk-assessment, ethics, and legal considerations.
