This presentation to help counselors gain a better understanding of trauma and how to not only be trauma-informed, but how to more effectively care for the others whose lives we touch as well as care for ourselves. We will discuss the neurobiology of the stress response and how our neurobiology is shaped by both trauma and development. We will discuss intervention strategies and lifestyle strategies to: create interactions/environments less like to trigger a trauma response, have ways to re-regulate and co-regulate, and create interventions/environments so we can all thrive. This presentation is open to counselors (school and clinical mental health) as well as social workers and MFTs.
