TITLE: Investigations: Important Information for counselor educators and supervisors.

This presentation will address an overview of the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist, and the overview of the Investigative Unit of the Board. Also, it will present various types of complaints the board received and how they were processed. This presentation will be a lecture with Q/A will be encouraged throughout.

TITLE: Masculinity and Counseling Practice: Implications for Counselor Educators and Supervisors.

The presenters will present and review their phenomenological study, which explored male counselors’ lived experience in terms of their masculinity and their counseling practice. This will include other relevant literature and research, are view of the data collection and analysis procedures, an exploration of the findings, and detailing the importance of understanding the role of gender in counseling. The presenters will focus on the implications of the findings for counselor educators and supervisors. Presenters will provide strategies for how counselor educators and supervisors can implement training and competency specific to gender in training programs, post-graduate supervision, and in continuing education opportunities. These strategies including promoting self-awareness and self-exploration among counselors in training and counselors, training specific to gender competency, and promoting the use of relational approaches. The presenters will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions.

TITLE: Podcast Pedagogy & Practice

The presentation will address the benefits of using

podcasts in education and provide an overview of the presenter’s own open-ended podcast (i.e., “Apply Topically”). Additionally, presenters will share information on podcasts they use in their teaching and why they work. The presenters hope to facilitate a dialogue on how podcasts can spread information about social justice issues, research or practice updates in mental health, and support student learning across the developmental spectrum. The presenters will also share information on basic equipment, technology requirements and costs in podcasting, and formatting opportunities.

TITLE: Recognizing a Counselor Education Program’s History to

Demonstrates Community Impact and Support Sustainability

Participants will learn the historical evidence to collect, innovative ways to collect the materials, and ways to save and disseminate the information. Participants will learn how to utilize current and historical materials to construct a narrative about the programs impact on the community that is tailored to stimulate support from university administrators, alumni, faculty, and students. This includes determining the themes of their program history, making it relevant to faculty, students, and alumni, and showing how the program has a history of meeting the expectation of decision makers.
