Motivational Interviewing with Students (OSCA Summer Academy)

  • 01 Aug 2019
  • Quest Center near Polaris area in North Columbus

The Ohio School Counselor Association is bringing in Dr. Reagan North, school counselor, author and professor, on August 1, 2019 at the Quest Center near Polaris Columbus for a 6-hour training on motivational interviewing with students.

Psychology Today defines motivational interviewing as " a counseling method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes." Motivational interviewing is a structured technique that has become more and more popular within the school setting as a means of motivating students to develop positive academic and personal behaviors that align with their values and goals.

OSCA is reaching out to our fellow organizations to see if you would be willing to send out any kind of communication to your members letting them know of this PD opportunity. The event is open to any professional interested in learning new techniques in how to working with and talk to students.
