OCA Leadership Certificate Program - Fall Series 2026 (29 Aug 2026)

The OCA Leadership Certificate Program (LCP) is an 8-week experience that is a FREE membership benefit for any graduate student, new professional, or seasoned professional discerning a possible future leadership role or who may already be serving in a position. LCP equips leaders with the most important tools and information they need to successfully hold a leadership position in OCA. Participants learn how to strengthen the effectiveness of a division/chapter/committee by applying best practices in successive leadership and through succession planning. They meet and network with their fellow participant leaders and receive mentorship and guidance for getting involved and helping to move the work of OCA forward.

Except for two 1.5 hour required in person Zoom gatherings, LCP allows participants to move through the program at their own pace through a series of pre-recorded learning modules. Modules are taught by past and present OCA leaders who share their experiences and insights related to some of the most significant aspects of being a leader in our association. All in person and recorded modules must be completed within the same series for which the participant is registered. The total time commitment is approximately seven hours and participants receive a certificate of completion and recognition at the All Ohio Counselor’s Conference.

OCA First Friday Lunch & Learn — Sustaining the Healer: Fostering Vitality within Counselors (02 Oct 2026)

Join OCA President-Elect, Dr. Alicia Hall, Ph.D., LPCC-S (OH), LPC (PA), for OCA's October First Friday Lunch & Learn!

Bearing witness to our clients' stories impacts our personal and professional well-being, including our beliefs and perceptions of ourselves and the world. In this unstable sociopolitical time, vicarious trauma (VT) and burnout pose real threats to counselor well-being. These left unchecked may lead to client harm and counselor impairment, which are serious ethical violations. In contrast, vitality is the energy-sustaining sanctuary that is foundational for our well-being and meaning-making. This interactive session supports counselors in identifying and overcoming potential VT and burnout responses and mitigate potential ethical violations. Attendees will learn how to cultivate their own vitality to enhance their well-being, meaning-making, resilience, and career sustainability.

This workshop equips supervisors and counselors with practical frameworks for managing supervision of high-risk clients. Participants explore five critical areas: vicarious trauma and burnout prevention, structured risk assessment and safety planning, countertransference awareness, ethical decision-making, and documentation practices. Through interactive discussion and case-based learning, attendees develop concrete skills for creating a supervision relationship that protects client safety while supporting counselor resilience and professional growth.
