Supervision Ethics and Gatekeeping

  • 26 Jan 2018
  • 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
  • University of Cincinnati

Dr. Barbara Herlihy will be facilitating a 2 CE workshop on Supervision Ethics and Gatekeeping at the University of Cincinnati on January 26th from 1:30pm until 3:30pm in Teachers 407.  For this event we are asking for a $10 donation at the door for the Upsilon Chi Chi chapter of Chi Sigma Iota (who is hosting this workshop) to support student activities and initiatives for the coming year.

Program Description

Gatekeeping is one of the most important (and most discomforting) issues in supervision. Supervisors work closely with their supervisees and want them to succeed, so they can be reluctant to acknowledge that a supervisee’s growth is not occurring as needed. And the very thought of being “gate-kept” or receiving a remediation plan strikes terror in the hearts of supervisees. This workshop will address why gatekeeping is crucial and how supervisors and supervisees can use the process ethically to benefit the supervisee while protecting the profession.

The University of Cincinnati counseling program is approved as a CE provider for NBCC and the CSWMFT Board. If you are interested in attending, please register at the following link:
