Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS):

 Save the Date:

September 12th for in-person training, Hope Hotel and Conference Center,  10823 Chidlaw Rd, Dayton, OH 45433

The CAMS model is used to assess patients' suicidality and specifically treat their suicide risk. OSPF's trainings will focus on treating suicidality in youth and young adults (10-24). CAMS is a three-part training that provide psychologists and counselors with knowledge, skills, and practice in recognizing and treating suicidality in patients. All training participants engage in:

1) A 4-6 hour, self-paced online training. This training features a series of videos which provide an overview of the CAMS model and how to help suicidal patients. Completion of online course is required prior to in-person training.

2) An in-person, 1 day training. This training is conducted by a trained CAMS consultant who leads group members in using the CAMS model through a series of role-play sessions where participants take turns acting as both counselors and patients.

3) Group consultation follow-up calls. These follow-up calls provide participants with opportunities to discuss successes and trouble-shoot challenges as they implement the CAMS model with patients.

Through the 3-part training, professionals are provided with the needed knowledge, skills, and confidence to help patients who struggle with suicide ideation.
